Scotsman James Boswell, 18th century writer and all round interesting fellow–of-the-Enlightenment, is at the heart of the GeniusFan project. Most people have never heard of him. But it wasn’t always thus…ahem. A few generations ago, when everyone was much better read than they are today and when there was no social media to beguile us, hypnotize us and melt our brains, back then people knew his name and his work. He is very much a forgotten celebrity.
Today we obsess over our celebrities, from genuine superstars right down to inconsequential Z-listers, and there’s millions of words on the internet written about them all, people we’ll forget before they croak. I’m fighting back with my own obsession. Meet the star of GeniusFan: James Boswell
